Is it appropriate to use a fish so close to April Fools’ Day??
This is a detail from one of the postcards created for the iHanna’s swap 2011.
You can download the wallpaper here. Hoax free, I promise!

Time flew by this month. It’s almost April and spring is here even if it does not feel like it. Snow and hail have been falling for the past two days so imagination is required to envision the leaves and flowers that should soon be here. Our monochromatic world is about to change!
On my to-do list for the next weeks: start the seeds for this year’s vegetable garden, prepare the fiesta for our birthday party in two weeks (my boyfriend and I were born five days apart) and try to regain my focus! I haven’t had much lately so I kept it all for work.
On my creative list: I would like to combine inkblots with fine lines and/or with delicate and colourful shapes. I don’t have a particular image in mind but it would be nice to break the bold presence of an inkblot with something contrasting.
Happy Friday!

I remember decorating eggs with my mother for Easter. She showed us how to blow out the egg and how to dye the shell. We then filled the empty egg with Jello! We ended up with a basket full of coloured and edible gelatin eggs.
I might just do that this year (except the Jello) and here are some inspiration and tips:

Crazy EggManLand
Drilled egg shells (How is that even possible!?!)

Is this my subconscious’ way of telling me it’s time to kiss winter goodbye and say hello to spring?
I have been trying to be more spontaneous with my drawings lately, to let the brush go where it wants. There is enough planning and controlling in other parts of my life right now so it feels good to let the brain wonder.
The mind being what is it, it jumped from “let the brain wonder” to “poetic map of the brain”??? I googled it to see what would come up, here is one result: Evidence, Narrative and the Forensic Imagination.
Have a good and relaxing weekend!

All those beautiful photos were taken by my sister Anik. I think I will hire her to take pictures for my blog!
I spent a week in Montreal followed by four days in Abitibi at my father’s house where there was a surprise birthday + retirement party for Suzanne, my step mom. And a brunch, and a dinner, etc.! On the last picture, you can see her present: a beautiful painting from Ariane Ouellet. Looking at it, you feel like a bubble finding its way up in the water. The movement in it is very graceful, light and uplifting. Ariane is an artist living and working in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. You can see more of her work over here.
It was also the first time that my sister and I drove to Abitibi, all alone like grownups! We usually take the bus or are passengers with friends or family. It is a seven hour drive to get to Rouyn from Montreal. The temperature was ideal for a long drive except for that tiny snow storm that showed up an hour before we arrived at our destination.
I had a great time but it feels so good to be back home again. I feel the need to take a long walk in the forest and to draw. Those two things keep me grounded and a bit more “zen”!

I get the feeling that time is going to fly by: I am in Montreal for a week and then Rouyn-Noranda (Abitibi-Témiscamingue) for a few days.
I will see you next Tuesday with a new post, until then, have a beautiful week!
Worth seeing : the ruins of Detroit captured by French photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre.

Our little house under the snow

Knee-high!

These photos were taken last weekend; it was the first snow storm of the year. About time, the winter is almost over! There was (and still is) so much snow that even with our snowshoes on, the white fluffy flakes came up to our knees.
A couple of posts ago, I wrote about things that make me happy. One of them was snow, lots of it. The amount that fell down must have been equivalent to the moral boost I needed!
