Our weekend looked like this: flower picking, gardening, a father’s day dinner, badminton and craft activities with the nephew and niece plus a bit of farniente.

Summer studio :-)
We are almost done installing our outside dining & living room/work space/summer studio. I will show you more pictures later. As long as the temperature allows it, I will work outside, well protected under the screen house tent! The cats/foremen seem to approve of the new space; Roupie has already used it many times as a napping ground.
I am becoming an iPhone addict…
Six years ago, I bought a refurbished Blackberry Dinosaurus. It must have been the dullest phone you have ever seen and it was used mainly as an answering machine. About a month ago, I felt it was time to switch for an iPhone. After all, a website programmer has to test on the real thing! I barely had time to play with it until last week but I think I am already hooked! All those camera apps (among other things) are really addictive.
Relax…
The past weeks have been a bit intense with work, the moving to prepare and some personal matters. The moving part is almost over (a last step today), so that’s one down! I can’t wait for a week of vacation that could give me the look of Roupie in the grass. As you can see in the pictures, our two rascals have passed through these weeks as usual…
The next few days are dedicated to unpacking and work but I will take the time to work on my collage and to nap in the hammock!
This is something that should help someone relax.

This month’s inspiration – polish posters

I had to refrain myself… There were so many that could have been included in that list but too much is like not enough! I have shown you some classics that have been in my image bank for a long long time (the cats from Stasys, Rosocha’s birds, the eggs from Gorowski) but some I found while searching for this post’s material. I was particularly touched by the delicate abundance in the work of Diana Sudika, by the simple and strong images of Roman Cieślewicz and how Tomasz Boguslawski hijacks everyday objects!
You can see this one in our house. It’s a loan from my father in law. He used to collect Polish posters and has quite a selection.

A lot of things that were dormant are starting to awaken.
Summers are short around here so nature is in a hurry!
It won’t be long before colour pops everywhere.
The rainettes (tree frogs) have been singing every night for the past weeks. You can’t imagine a more beautiful concert. I have just recorded their song, you can hear it over here…
And this is the song of the grenouille taureau (bullfrog). Some of them hang out in a pond not too far from our house; I think I prefer the sweet voices of the rainettes!

In the last post I said it was time to get back to the present but here is one more peak at the past. Blame it on all the pictures I have to sort out!
After the shop closed, I thought it would be nice to be my own boss and to go on creating, so Mammouth (my prior company) was born… and died shortly after. At that time, I did not have what is needed to be self-employed. Still, for a year and a bit I felt blessed to spend my days creating objects, some from scratch and some from recycled materials.
I will be back on Friday with new drawings!

Dans mon dernier billet, j’ai mentionné qu’il était temps de se concentrer sur le présent mais permettez-moi ce petit écart. C’est la faute à toutes ces photos qu’il me faut classer!
Suite à la fermeture de l’atelier, je me suis dit que ce serait sympathique d’être mon propre employeur et de continuer à créer. C’est ainsi qu’est né Mammouth (ma première compagnie)… et qu’elle mourut peu de temps après. Je crois qu’à cette époque je n’avais pas ce qu’il faut pour être travailleur autonome. Malgré tout, pendant une année et des poussières, j’ai eu le plaisir de créer des objets, quelques uns à partir de rien et d’autres faits de matériaux récupérés.
Je serai de retour vendredi avec de nouveaux dessins!

I remember using an electric sander on the first painting. :-)
But enough from the past, I have to concentrate on the present!
