On the left: scraps received, on the right and below: drafts no. 1 – 4!

My first attempts at the collage for Brown Paper Bag’s Collage Scrap Exchange. Is it allowed to create something that looks like a little puppet theatre? If not, it will end up into a one dimensional artwork like draft no.2! Anyway, I am having fun moving the pieces around.
On another note; I don’t know if you have heard about what is going on in Quebec right now (student protests and Bill 78), but here is an absolutely beautiful video that captures the spirit of a movement called Les casseroles. It started just after the passing of Bill 78.

The past weeks have been a bit intense with work, the moving to prepare and some personnal matters. The moving part is almost over (a last step today), so that’s one down! I can’t wait for a week of vacation that could give me the look of Roupie in the grass. As you can see in the pictures, our two rascals have past through these weeks as usual…
The next few days are dedicated to unpacking and work but I will take the time to work on my collage and to nap in the hammock!
This is something that should help someone relax.
Have a good weekend!

I am participating to Brown Paper Bag’s Collage Scrap Exchange. Here is a part of what my USA partner sent me:

We have until June 8th to create a collage with what we received. You should see the results around that time!
Have a good week!

It’s morel time!!!
Nicolas found these two beauties near our house on Tuesday. We were hoping to find more but not luck. We came back with cat food and a lemon pie!
Still, we had “leftover” dried morels from last year so Nico cooked something delicious: pasta with a morel sauce (dried and fresh). The day was saved.

Stasys Eidrigevicius

Stasys Eidrigevicius

Diana Sudyka

Mieczyslaw Gorowski

Wieslaw Rosocha

Roman Cieślewicz
I had to refrain myself… There were so many that could have been included in that list but too much is like not enough! I have shown you some classics that have been in my image bank for a long long time (the cats from Stasys, Rosocha’s birds, the eggs from Gorowski) but some I found while searching for this post’s material. I was particularly touched by the delicate abundance in the work of Diana Sudika, by the simple and strong images of Roman Cieślewicz and how Tomasz Boguslawski hijacks everyday objects!
You can see this one in our house. It’s a loan from my father in law. He used to collect Polish posters and has quite a selection.
If you are interested in the short story of Polish posters, you can have a look at this article.

Ecoline, ink and graphite on paper, work in progress…

Some of the kale seeds survived winter

Sweet peas are emerging and Roupie the Mittens is making his rounds.

A lot of things that were dormant are starting to awaken.
Summers are short around here so nature is in a hurry!
It won’t be long before colour pops everywhere.
The rainettes (tree frogs) have been singing every night for the past weeks. You can’t imagine a more beautiful concert. I have just recorded their song, you can hear it over here…
And this is the song of the grenouille taureau (bullfrog). Some of them hang out in a pond not too far from our house; I think I prefer the sweet voices of the rainettes!
What is your favourite concert?
