I think it all started while organizing an exhibition on Inuit art and culture; amongst all the artefacts stood the carving of a <a title=\"Inuit dancing bear\" href=\"http:\/\/www.longagoandfaraway.com\/inuitdancing.htm\">dancing bear<\/a>, looking happy and a little drunk&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It also happened during another exhibition, this time from <a title=\"Michel Saulnier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/\">Michel Saulnier<\/a>.  We hosted his pieces for a month and it made me a happy girl to look at  his strange mix of schematized, sexualized and playful bears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/donnees\/oeuvres\/index\/2\/annee\/1990\/oeuvre\/16\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Prends-moi la nuit\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/uploads\/tx_msserieoeuvre\/ms_90_09b-pos-2.jpg\" alt=\"Prends-moi la nuit - Michel Saulnier\" width=\"321\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/donnees\/oeuvres\/index\/1\/annee\/1990\/oeuvre\/21\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Anatomia Ursus\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/uploads\/tx_msserieoeuvre\/ms_90_02-pos-2.jpg\" alt=\"Anatomia Ursus - Michel Saulnier\" width=\"377\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a title=\"Michel Saulnier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/donnees\/oeuvres\/index\/2\/annee\/1990\/oeuvre\/16\/\"><em>Prends-moi la nuit<\/em><\/a> and <a title=\"Michel Saulnier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michelsaulnier.com\/donnees\/oeuvres\/index\/1\/annee\/1990\/oeuvre\/21\/\"><em>Anatomia ursus<\/em><\/a>, Michel Saulnier<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m talking bear today because I spotted one last week from <a title=\"Jennifer Davis\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jenniferdavisart.com\/bear.html\">Jennifer Davis<\/a> (on <a title=\"SF Girl by Bay\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgirlbybay.com\/2011\/08\/31\/girl-crush-2\/\">SF Girl by Bay<\/a>) that really got to me and it reminded me of another one from <a title=\"Camilla Engman\" href=\"http:\/\/camillaengman.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/chocolate-finger.html\">Camilla Engman<\/a> that did quite an impression as well. I like their association bear\/human, their mix of ferociousness\/softness and the story that they both tell.
