There is a print giveaway this week!

The images above are giclée prints on archive Hahnemühle paper. I had three of each printed last year for an event and I might print more soon. They are signed and numbered. The winner will have the choice between number 2, 3 and 6 (the bear, the octopus or the flower). They measure 8″ x 10″, except for the first one at 9″ x 20″.

To enter the giveaway: leave a comment to this post, telling me which creature(s) you would like to see printed/reprinted from montage A and/or B. I will choose the winner randomly on Friday night and announce the winner on Saturday. You have until then to participate! Oh, and don’t be fooled by the color of the paper in the photos below. They’re all on white paper, but some were photographed at night under a yellow lighting!

Il y a tirage cette semaine!

Ce sont des impressions giclée sur papier d’archives Hahnemühle, format 8″ x 10″. J’en ai fait faire trois copies de chaque l’an dernier pour un événement. Le gagnant aura le choix entre les numéros 2, 3 et 6 dans le montage plus haut (ours, pieuvre ou fleur). Chaque impression est signée et numérotée.

Pour participer : laissez un commentaire dans ce billet m’indiquant quelle(s) créature(s) vous aimeriez retrouver en impression (à partir des montages A et/ou B). Le gagnant sera choisi au hasard vendredi soir et sera annoncé dans le billet de samedi. Vous avez jusqu’à ce moment pour participer! En passant, ne vous fiez pas aux couleurs de fond des images plus bas : tous les dessins ont été réalisés sur papier blanc, mais quelques uns d’entre eux ont été photographiés le soir!

Here are the first painted stones of the new batch. It’s already been a year since I have done this so I felt the need to use two techniques that have given interesting results on stone.

The first one is the spirit of these and the black ones are the grandchildren of those.

Voici les premiers cailloux peints du nouveau lot. Étant donné qu’il y a déjà un an que j’ai travaillé sur ce support, j’ai ressenti le besoin d’utiliser deux techniques testées précédemment et qui fonctionnent bien sur la pierre.

La première pierre est dans l’esprit de cette série, et les galets noirs sont les petits-enfants de ceux-là.

Three things that made me happy last week

Finally got my copy! :-) :: J'ai enfin reçu ma copie!

1. I finally received my copy of the book Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals! The first one got lost in the mail. I love it and can’t wait to try the “Creatures on wood” and the artist’s book projects.

1. J’ai finalement reçu ma copie du livre Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals! La première a été égarée quelque part entre la maison d’édition et mon bout de campagne. Je l’adore et j’ai très hâte d’essayer les projets “Créatures sur bois” et le livre d’artiste.

2. My friend Marc brought back more pebbles from Gaspésie, a bowl full of experiments is awaiting! See a few examples here, here and there of what I have done with the first batch.
Of course, the forecats had to “inspect” it.

2. Mon ami Marc m’a rapporté de nouveaux galets de Gaspésie. J’aurai l’occasion de tester de nouvelles choses! Vous trouverez quelques exemples ici, ici et là de ce que j’ai fait avec le premier lot.
Bien entendu, les chats contremaîtres ont ressenti le besoin d’inspecter le nouvel arrivage.

3. We celebrated my goofy sister’s birthday this weekend. Good friends, good food, good time!

3. Nous avons célébré l’anniversaire de ma rigolote de sœur. Bons amis, bonne bouffe, bon temps!

Thank you to everyone who left a comment, it was a pleasure reading you and thank you to Carla for these two weeks filled with discoveries!

The weekend was busy, but I found time to play with my new liquid acrylics. I’m in the midst of testing how it reacts on different kinds of paper, when combined or superposed, etc. I think this medium will become a favourite of mine pretty quickly! The colours are bright and I can work on different layers without smudging what’s underneath.

La fin de semaine a été bien occupée, mais j’ai trouvé le temps de jouer avec mes nouvelles acryliques liquides. J’ai testé leur façon de réagir sur différents types de papier et lorsqu’elles sont combinées ou superposées. J’ai l’impression qu’elles vont faire partie de mes médiums favoris! Les couleurs sont lumineuses et je peux travailler en superposition sans étaler les couches précédentes.

This is what fall looks like around here, with its share of creatures (sheep, wild turkeys, horses), but I never thought I would find a monkey on our road.

Carla Sonheim, a multi-talented artist and teacher, has just released Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals : A Mixed-Media Workshop, a book filled with a variety of exercises and techniques that improve drawing skills in a fun and creative way. Not only does this book show you how to look around and within you, it also covers an array of mixed-media techniques that incorporate painting, artist’s books, transfers, and much more. I can’t wait to try them all!

Also, this is the last day of Carla’s two-week blog celebration of her new book. If you hop over to her site, you will find animal-related art tutorials, assignments as well as art and book giveaways. OK, the giveaways are almost over, but there is one more chance to win a signed copy of Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals, offered by Carla! What do I have to do with all of this, you might ask? Last autumn, I had the surprise and pleasure to receive an email from Carla. She wanted to include two of my illustrations in her upcoming book. I am thrilled that this bear and this owl found a home in Carla’s book, as these inks “popped out” at a moment when I needed to renew with a creation process that would stay as far away as possible from my overused computer.

I have a feeling that this book will help me stay on the right track!

Aujourd’hui marque le dernier jour d’un spécial de deux semaines soulignant l’arrivée du nouveau livre de Carla.
