Working on the Postcard Swap

Acrylic, collage and micron pen on marouflaged paper

I have been working on the postcard swap this weekend. It’s not done yet, but I am quite happy with the results so far. I still have a week to complete these five cards!

I glued Chinese praying papers and old wrapping papers to a thick cardboard. This gave me a nice texture to start with.

And as you can see, the cats have no respect for my working space. :-)

I left for five minutes and when I came back, Belu was sleeping on my cards. Lucky I had not begun painting on them!

Thank you for organizing these swaps! I really enjoy participating.
This is such a good motivator. I don’t know why, but I tend to experiment more when I create the cards. And to top this, we receive suprises by snail mail!

Hi Julie from a fellow Canadian. Your postcards are beautiful! I have “cat assistants” too, always a challenge to get anything done! I’m learning to create standing up at the kitchen counter as needed. :)

These look so yummy. I love cardboard for a substrate, don’t you? I’m using corrugated cardboard so they are kind of grungy on the edges, but it’s still cool.
I hope to get one of your cards. they are kitty approved!

It has been a long time since I worked on cardboard and I have to say that I like it. Your cards look good too! I just hoped to your site to have a look at them. Also, it seems you live under furry domination as well! Is your dog as controlling as my two rascals?

oh my goodness, these are fabulous!! and the good thing is that, with not so many of us taking part this time around, my odds of receiving one of these beauties is increased :)

I had a look at your previous postcards and they were great! Maybe we’ll get each other’s cards for this swap!

Really lovely what you’ve done so far! I like cutting up cereal boxes for postcards, too. Some of mine this time around are on cardboard–it’s like a mini theme within a theme, apparently!

Thank you Rockyann, but no need to feel embarassed. The goal with this exchange is go have fun, explore and discover! Well, that’s the way I see it! :-)

Hey — I was one of the lucky ones who got one of your postcards!! Little did I know when I saw these lovely cards that one of them would make their way through my letter box.

Julie – I received one of your postcards and it is lovely – both sides. I love the way the flowers wrap around to the back of the card and the combination of painting and collage. Your cat in the photo reminds me of my two felines – always curious!

Thank you Ellen! And yes, these cats, they always have to sniff everything that is new or out of place and most of all, they like to lie down on any piece of paper you are reading or working with!

    Hi Julie

Your card has arrived in Scotland! Thank you so much, it is lovely and I especially like the Eleanor Roosevelt quote. No cats at home here but I do have a very inquisitive miniature schnauzer called Tilly – mind you she does think she’s a cat…..

Happy you like it! Hi to Tilly your dog-cat, we also have a confused creature here, one of our cat thinks he’s a dog, or a squirrel sometimes. :-)

Oh, thank you so much, from the US Virgin islands. I saw this post a while ago and so wished that I would receive one of yours and I did! I got the one with the lady with her back to the viewer, unfortunately the orange bit on her head tore off in the mail, but the card is still gorgeous. Thank you again.

Aow, I was afraid that something like this would happen! Beginner’s mistake… I will try some other collage technique the next time around. Happy you like it even if it’s damaged!
